Wonder Theatre Outreach Experience
Wonder Theatre Outreach Experience program works with local nonprofits, schools, and special programs to provide on or off-site musical theatre enrichment classes, summer camps, and productions. Wonder Theatre Outreach Experience works closely with each organization to develop a tailored program that meets their needs. We’ve worked with organizations such as Eva’s Heroes, Mission Road Ministries, Ella Austin, SA Life Academy, Headstart programs and Private schools throughout San Antonio. All classes are taught and developed using Music, Theater and Physical Education Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS).
WONDER THEATRE OUTREACH EXPERIENCE PACKAGES
BROADWAY BABIES PACKAGE
This package is tailored to students’ Head Start programs (3 years of age being the youngest) and Kindergarten through 5th grade. All classes are taught and developed using Music, Theater, and Physical Education Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS). Classes introduce singing, body and spatial awareness, stage directions, and exposure to Musical Theater. Students will learn to explore space using expressive movement and recreate characters in dramatic play. There is an option to have a final performance at the end of the instruction period where students will showcase their talents. The performance will have a theme based on a musical that the students have shown an interest in (ex. Encanto, Frozen, The Lion King, Peter Pan, etc.).
BOUND FOR BROADWAY PACKAGE
This package is dedicated to Middle School through High School students and children or adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. All classes are taught and developed using Music, Theater, and Physical Education Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS). This is designed to help introduce music, movement, and acting. Instruction is designed with options for those with low mobility and has accommodations for those with sensory issues. This package is tailored to each student’s capabilities. There is an option to have a final performance at the end of the instruction period to showcase the talent of the students involved. The performance will have a theme based on a musical that the students have shown an interest in (ex. Hamilton, Aladdin, Encanto, Grease, High School Musical, The Lion King, Frozen, etc.)
BEYOND BROADWAY PACKAGE
Wonder Theatre’s Beyond Broadway Senior program is specifically designed for adults over the age of 65 as a recreational activity where participants learn musical theatre skills, including acting, voice, choreography, movement, and stage presence while creating a mainstage production.
Beyond Broadway seniors will take a collective trip down memory lane as they rehearse to stage a three-number musical revue that will showcase and celebrate musicals that they remember and hold dear. Instruction will be both scaffolded and differentiated.
Participants will rehearse twice a week for six weeks culminating in one performance for family, friends, and staff. Wonder Theatre understands that some older adults face various challenges in performing, and will ensure to accommodate and/or modify as needed.
